Next Gen Art – Romanian-Norwegian bilateral program

The Amfiteatru Foundation (Bucharest/Romania) and Nitja Center for Contemporary Art (Lillestrøm/Norway) are collaborating on a Romanian-Norwegian bilateral education and exhibition program for young artists. The project aims to develop the careers of young artists and offer them an international platform to increase their visibility, and it is part of the bilateral initiatives call – “Bilateral cooperation for the development of contemporary art.”

The program includes curatorial mentorship, a visual arts exhibition that will have its opening in both Bucharest and Lillestrøm, and an exhibition catalog documenting the entire initiative.

Two young artists will act as curators to organize an exhibition, an experience exchange, featuring the works of two young photographers – one from Romania and one from Norway, under the guidance of experienced professionals in the cultural field.

The project team will produce a contemporary visual arts exhibition that will be supported by both partner organizations. Additionally, the mentors of both partner organizations will also take part in the experience exchange.

The Next Generation of Artists project takes place over a period of 4 months, November 2024 -February 2025, in Bucharest/Romania and Lillestrøm/Norway, and benefits from a grant amounting to 518,975 lei (104,267.14 euros) funded through the EEA and Norway Grants -National Bilateral Fund within the RO-CULTURE Program.
